Graduate programs at Bard

The Dean of Graduate Studies office consists of Dean Christian Ayne Crouch, Director of Graduate Admissions Janet Stetson, and Marie Balogh, Assistant to the Dean. Our office acts as a hub for all graduate programs and the surrounding offices on campus. The office is responsible for organizing Commencement for all graduate students. The director of graduate admissions supports recruitment efforts of Bard graduate programs, promoting efficacy in marketing, PR, data collection and analysis, website development, etc. The director also assists in establishing student activities and coordinates services with undergraduate offices from career development to health services and on-campus housing.

Every student at Bard has an academic adviser who is a member of the College's faculty. Faculty advisers hold regular advisory conferences with their student advisees throughout the semester, provide guidance and assistance to students during the registration process, and counsel students on applications for internships, plans for after graduation, and fellowship and scholarship opportunities. Students can look up their academic advisor on their online information portal (BIP).

The Bard MAT is an intensive graduate teacher education program leading to a discipline-based master of arts in teaching degree and New York State initial teacher certification (grades 7–12) in one of five subjects: biology, history (social studies), literature (English), mathematics, or Spanish. Any questions or interest in courses, careers, or other support in K-12 education. Aside from our certification program for grades 7-12 teachers, we also field inquiries for tutors for children in the Bard community and can provide guidance to anyone in the Bard community with an interest in K-12 education.

The mission of the Bard College Conservatory of Music is to provide the best possible preparation for a person dedicated to a life immersed in the creation and performance of music. We schedule practice rooms for all conservatory and music students on north or south campus. We can help schedule the Bito performance space for student recitals or events. We're also happy to answer any musical questions or point students in the right direction for answers.
